Love on the Frontline- 'Wives and Sweethearts' National Army Museum

After reading Irene Nemirovsky's novel about wartime France in the 1930's, and then subsequently Charlotte Gray and The Girl at the Lion D'Or by Sebastian Faulks, this exhibition at the National Army Museum seems ideal. The exhibits span over 200 years, with photographs, letters and momentoes celebrating courtships, weddings and births. Frances Parton, curator of the 'Wives and Sweethearts' exhibition, said:
As curator, it has been a challenge as much as a joy to select the items for the exhibition. The Museum has such a wealth of social history material on the subject of soldiers and their love lives that I was spoilt for choice. These items provide us with a touching insight into the lives of others and remind us of the people behind the conflicts.
