Day 4 London Fashion Week- Michael van der Ham

Autumn/Winter '12 was classic van der Ham- featuring beautiful pattern, brocade, and collage- but just a little more refined than previous seasons. The Dutch designer is renowned in the fashion world for his unique way of combining and sourcing fabrics, creating richly textured and decorated garments. However, luckily, the pieces never fall into the trap of looking cluttered or fussy, but on the contrary, form a fluid, ladylike shape. This season a plethora of fabrics were introduced, from metallic boucle, embellished brocade, soft cashmere and jacquard organza. The hair and make-up also had a more grown-up, refined feel, with luscious movie-star curls and the touch of gold leaf above the eyelashes.

Michael Van Der Ham, SS12, London Fashion Week

After a quick catch up on London Fashion Week after being away, I would like to present one of my favourites shows this season, Michael Van Der Ham. Inspired by Joseph Szabo's photography and making use of his signature collaging techniques, he created a laid-back ladylike silhouette. There was a freshness to his collaging this time, a bit looser and with a hotch-potch of vintage inspired fabrics; brocade and floral, tweed and bright accessories.
