Peeling Facades and Vintage Feelings

Texture and decay of walls can create a palimpsest of colour, fabric and material. From the recent film, The King's Speech, where the walls of Lionel Logue's office were beautifully evocative and a perfect backdrop for the King's struggle with his stutter. And then back to my trip to Rome and Venice in the summer, where the traditional buildings have a hue and tone perfect for a camera lens or painter's canvas. May I also be reminded of my previous post 'Decay as Beauty: The Waterhouse at South Bund by NHDRO, where the decay has almost been preserved and celebrated.
