Carven A/W12 Paris Fashion Week

Givenchy alumni Guillaum Henry showed a collection of laser-cut skirts and medieval inspired prints for Carven at Couvent des Cordeliers in Paris. The show, which was broadcast live on facebook for the first time, found an apt setting in this former convent, a building which was one of the oldest monastic settlements in medieval Paris. Only the 13th Century refectory remains today. This translated sartorially into paisley tailoring, followed by prints of brightly coloured medieval women and saints. Towards the end of the show, geometric cut out skirts and dresses hinted at alabaster skin beneath, and seemed inspired by the jewels of stained glass windows of gothic churches.
