Petit Bateau x Carven

Carven has teamed up with France's beloved brand Petit Bateau to create a one-off capsule collection. I'm super excited for this collaboration, I love Carven's Peter Pan collars and playful prints, and I equally love Petit Bateau's cotton t-shirts and cosy knits. The Petit Bateau & Carven collection will be available to buy from December 6 in all Petit Bateau stores worldwide. Below is the campaign for the collection, which features model Anna de Rijk.

Carven A/W12 Paris Fashion Week

Givenchy alumni Guillaum Henry showed a collection of laser-cut skirts and medieval inspired prints for Carven at Couvent des Cordeliers in Paris. The show, which was broadcast live on facebook for the first time, found an apt setting in this former convent, a building which was one of the oldest monastic settlements in medieval Paris. Only the 13th Century refectory remains today. This translated sartorially into paisley tailoring, followed by prints of brightly coloured medieval women and saints. Towards the end of the show, geometric cut out skirts and dresses hinted at alabaster skin beneath, and seemed inspired by the jewels of stained glass windows of gothic churches.

Carven, Paris Fashion Week AW'11

Related Posts Plugin for WordPress, Blogger...What attracts me about this collection is that it is so utterly wearable. Whilst showing smart and chic shapes, it also played with unexpected layering, kooky panels and pleats, as well as unusual twists and turns. The brand relaunched itself last year, by hiring Givenchy designer Guillaum Henry, and all for the better; "Some designers create and imagine a woman, a customer, and that's great – but it's not for me. I design for the owner's wife, my mother, my friends; someone going to work, with children, going out at night – women I know". I think this is what makes the collection so accessible and likeable.
