House in Iizuka by rhythmdesign

This single family dwelling, located in a small town near Fukuoaka city, southern Japan, features a hexagonal plan with each room arranged around a central double-height gallery and dining space. The triangular eating area is overlooked by all the rooms of the house and forms the multi-purpose heart of the home. Sliding doors allow the space to be flexible, opening and closing the house at the owner's wish for varying levels of privacy and publicity. Voids and boxes are cut out of the upper levels to create a connection to this central core, whilst giving views out onto all sides of the unusually shaped site.
