Stella McCartney, Paris Fashion Week AW'11

Stella McCartney's AW 2011 collection was well worth the wait at the end of Paris Fashion Week. The theme was menswear for women, playing with androgyny, clean cut lines and well-crafted tailoring. McCartney really knows how to make boyish shapes look both sexy and appealing to men and women. The phrase 'less is more' has never been so applicable and wildly fashionable. Models walked down the catwalk in boxy and roomy cable knit jumpers, jackets and coats in deep blacks and midnight blues. This was offset by chiffon panelled body-con dresses and lady-like high waisted pencil skirts. The tailoring, as always, was superbly crafted and kookily boxy. The fashion shows this season really seem to be ruled by women, with high-powered Phoebe Philo and Stella McCartney dictating the trends for Autumn and Winter. Is it any coincidence that the new Creative Director of Alexander McQueen, Sarah Burton, is designing Kate Middleton's wedding dress for April? Or that Anna Wintour wore Miuccia Prada's Spring/Summer banana earrings last week for Fashion Week, and as they say, wherever she goes, people always follow.
